A New Radiation Resistant Epoxy Resin System for Liquid Impregnation Fabrication of Composite Insulation
DOE Phase II Contract No. DE-FG03-99ER82782
Epoxy resin systems are essential as matrix components of electrical insulation used to isolate superconducting magnet coils in fusion reactor devices. The final report discusses results pertaining to development and evaluation of an epoxy resin system for use in resin transfer molding fabrication of glass fiber reinforced composite panels. The panels are models for composite insulation employed in fusion reactors. The fabrication, mechanical and thermal properties of these composite materials are described before and after gamma irradiation.
